Biography
Dr. Holly Hanley joined the faculty at Appalachian in 2018 as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and serves as our Director of Clinical Education. Dr. Hanley received her BS and MA degrees from Appalachian State University and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Hanley has more than 17 years of clinical and teaching experience in a variety of settings. Prior to her position at Appalachian, Dr. Hanley was the Director of the Speech Language Pathology Assistant Program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. She is currently the President of the North Carolina Speech Hearing and Language Association (NCSHLA). Dr. Hanley is a research collaborator with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she is researching primary progressive apraxia of speech (PPAOS) and Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) and its variants. In her spare time, Dr. Hanley enjoys spending time with her family and her two golden retrievers, Stella and Cooper.
